This week in Gasnet – 7th March 2021

The primary conversation this week started with a news story:

Didn’t this start us all off down a rabbit warren. Obviously everyone thought this the wrong thing to do and pointed out that many surgeons, and some other specialties have delusions of grandeur. And then started the anecdotes. Surgeons operating when perhaps they shouldn’t whether following procedures themselves, acute medical conditions eg perianal abscess or even being in labour! The conversation then strayed into surgical antics during power outages in the operating theatre and tricks they have pulled to get their operation underway before others. Finally the the conversation rounded off with a discussion of the failings of hospital generators, usually at the worst possible moment.
